Crystal, one of the UK’s leading tour operators has published its annual Ski Industry Report confirming what we at Briton have known for a long time. Snowsports are definitely increasing in popularity!
The British snowsports market has just recorded one of its strongest periods of growth, with 7% more snowsporters taking a holiday abroad than the previous season.
According to the report 1.15m ski & boarding holidays were bought in 2005/06 showing an increase of 40% more than in the mid-80s.

And thankfully it’s not just places like the US & Canada that are experiencing increases in visitors and revenues. Snowflex® surfaced slopes have all seen a healthy rise in visitor numbers since their old surfaces with the latest refurbished facilities such as Norwich & Bearsden experiencing unprecedented increases in their business.
Norfolk Ski Club Chairman Barry Spouge said "Since our recent development we have seen a vast increase in usage of the slopes, particularly the new Fun Park. A new Freestyle section has sprung from the membership, Snowboarders and skiers both have taken advantage of the new facilities. It is noticeable that our summer slope usage has also vastly increased with lessons and club activities making full use of the slopes. It is safe to say that the general increase in business, summer and winter, has been much more than we anticipated."
The industry has seen regular growth for a long time now and last years figures confirm that snowsports are no longer seen as just fashionable or a fad. We are seeing the development of a hobby that is fun - but it's also a serious and profitable business proposition too!
We at Briton know how good Snowflex® is - we've worked long and hard to make it so, but it's always good to hear that our customers think the same too and will reap the benefits in increased business activity.
